Law Student Outreach
In April of 2013, the Los Angeles Area Legal Recruitment Association's (LAALRA) Diversity Committee hosted its fourth annual Diversity Networking Event & Reception. Associates Aimee Wong and Jennifer Seigle represented MLA at the event, which provides an opportunity for local 1L law students to participate in mini 8-minute networking sessions with attorneys. This year 30 firms and 5 schools (Loyola, Pepperdine, Southwestern, UCLA & USC) were represented at the event.
In April of 2013, Agustin Orozco attended the Loyola Law School final trials and graduation ceremony for the Young Lawyers Program. The Diversity Committee has supported this event the past three years with a sponsorship commitment.
In March of 2013, MLA sponsored the George Washington University Law School (GW) and the GW Chapter of Lambda Law Seventh Annual LGBT, Allied, and Other Diverse Law Student Networking Reception. Katie John and Paul Hurdle attended the reception.
In February of 2013, The Washington, DC office kicked off its Ninth Annual Georgetown Women of Color Collective (WOCC) Program earlier this year. WOCC is an organization of female students of color at Georgetown University Law Center. MLA's mentoring program pairs participating students with female attorneys in the Washington office. MLA held a lunch program on February 1 to meet with the nine participating students. MLA mentors include Tami Azorsky ,Christina Carroll, Stephanie Ellis , Katie John, Shari Klevens, Claire Maddox, Terra White, Amy Wolfsheimer and Joanne Zimolzak .
