PROFILE

With a keen understanding of the American political process, Eric Tanenblatt leads the firm's National Government Affairs Group, focusing on governmental and regulatory affairs at the federal, state and local levels. For years he has been at the forefront of dramatic government activities at all levels. Today, Eric is considered by a growing number of elected officials and corporate leaders to be an invaluable resource - a creative and effective strategist who combines knowledge and network into results.

Eric began his career at MLA in 2001, left to serve as Chief of Staff to Governor Sonny Perdue, Georgia's first Republican Governor in over 130 years, then returned in 2004. He continued his work with Governor Perdue as state coordinator for the 2004 G-8 economic summit that was held in Sea Island and served as the finance chairman for the Governor's successful reelection campaign. He currently serves as a National Finance Co-Chair of the Republican Governor’s Association.

In 2000, he served as the state chairman for President George W. Bush's successful Georgia campaign effort and held senior positions in the 1996 Dole and Gramm Presidential campaigns. A longtime advisor to the late U.S. Senator Paul Coverdell (R-GA), Eric served as vice chairman of Senator Coverdell's successful 1998 reelection campaign, directed Senator Coverdell's 1992 campaign for the U.S. Senate and served as the Senator's State Director in Georgia. From 1989 to 1991, he served in the Administration of President George Bush. At the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, he served as a Special Assistant to Secretary Louis Sullivan focusing on Congressional and legislative affairs. In his role as Director of Intergovernmental Affairs at the Peace Corps, Eric served as the agency's liaison to the White House, Congress and all federal departments and agencies.

A prominent advocate for civic engagement, Eric was recently nominated by President George W. Bush and confirmed by the U.S. Senate to serve on the Board of Directors of the Corporation for National and Community Service.

He is the co-founder and past chairman of Hands on Georgia, a statewide program to promote volunteerism, and recently served as co-chair for the host committee for the 2008 National Conference for Service and Volunteerism held in Atlanta.
