Please join us on November 6 and 7, 2007 in Washington, DC for The Fundamentals of Pesticide Regulation: FIFRA, FFDCA and Proposition 65. You need to know the basics, whether your company sells agricultural or specialty pesticides. The sponsors have collaborated and carefully designed and updated a course that will teach you what is important and how three laws – FIFRA, FFDCA and Proposition 65 – regulate pesticides, from their research and development through cancellation and suspension, so you can focus on what’s important: getting products on the market, expanding their market and keeping them there. The course will feature real life examples of practical regulatory issues.
The first day and a half will cover the fundamentals of pesticide regulation – the history of FIFRA and EPA’s risk assessment, an overview of EPA’s pesticide regulatory program, registering a pesticide, PRIA, data compensation, reports and inspections, export and imports, responding to enforcement actions, cancellation, suspension and product review, current developments under the Endangered Species Act and the Clean Water Act and California’s unique pesticide regulatory program. An EPA representative will offer tips on a very important topic – Working Effectively With The Office of Pesticide Programs.
A three-hour session of the afternoon of the second day will focus exclusively on Pesticides and Proposition 65: Litigation and Listings. Proposition 65 bounty-hunters have served more than 40 Notices of Intent to Sue on approximately 15 pesticide registrants since December, 2006. Approximately 30 pesticide active ingredients are listed under the Act, and more were proposed for listing in June, 2007. This session will update registrants on litigation and listing activities, and will focus further on practical steps that registrants can take to protect their products from Proposition 65 attacks.
More information regarding the program, including the course agenda, will be posted on this page in mid-October.
