Partner Frank Rapoport To Present at ALI-ABA's "Emerging Issues in Biotechnology Law" Course of Study

Partner Frank Rapoport will present “Working with the Government and Department of Defense” at the ALI-ABA’s upcoming "Emerging Issues in Biotechnology Law" Course of Study.  The event will be held September 6-7, 2007 at the Hilton Embassy Row in Washington D.C.  It is co-sponsored by the ABA Section of Science & Technology Law.
  
"Emerging Issues in Biotechnology Law" will be comprised of more than 14 hours of instruction, providing guidance on the hottest issues in biotechnology and related legal developments.  It will be presented live in Washington, D.C. and online via webcast.

Rapoport’s practice at McKenna Long & Aldridge LLP focuses on government contracts and public health law.  He will co-present with Senior Counsel Jay Winchester from the U.S. Army Medical Research and Materiel Command. 

Topics to be covered during Rapoport's segment include developments in government contracting for biodefense and pandemic flu countermeasures: Understanding HHS advanced purchase contracting under Project BioShield and BARDA legislation; negotiating IP, technology transfer, and march-in rights; compulsory licensing post-DOHA; Orphan Drug Act tax credits and exclusivity; indemnification, the animal rule, and the National Interagency Biodefense Campus.
