PROFILE

Satu-Anneli Kauranen is an associate at McKenna Long & Aldridge’s Brussels office.

Satu focuses her practice on EU regulatory law, with an emphasis on environmental, energy, food, biotech and product safety matters, including the REACH Regulation and consortia management, and EC competition law.

Satu advises individual companies and trade associations across numerous industry sectors on regulatory developments and compliance issues relating to various aspects of food law, product labeling, chemicals and product approvals. As part of the firm’s REACH team, Satu has also experience counseling on REACH consortia formation and management, drafting consortia and service agreements, including “only representative” or “third-party representative” agreements for the purposes of REACH.

Satu also has experience in merger and cartel procedures before the European Commission. In addition, she has coordinated multi-jurisdictional merger filings and advised multi-national companies on a broad range of antitrust issues.

Prior to joining the firm, Satu worked for two other leading American law firms in Brussels, where her practice mainly focused on EC competition law and regulatory affairs.

Satu studied law at the University of Turku, Finland, and obtained an LL.M. degree from the Katholieke Universiteit in Leuven, focusing on European and International Commercial law. She has also completed a traineeship at the European Commission‘s Directorate for Competition.

She is member of the Finnish Bar and the Brussels Bar (E-List).
