McKenna Long & Aldridge LLP Announces New Office Managing Partner in Los Angeles
LOS ANGELES (November 12, 2012) — McKenna Long & Aldridge LLP (MLA) announced today that Kathy Jorrie has been appointed Office Managing Partner for the firm’s office in Los Angeles. Ms. Jorrie, who has been with the firm since 1998, is one of three women who serve as an Office Managing Partner for MLA’s three largest offices: Atlanta, Washington, DC, and Los Angeles. She was previously the Partner In Charge of the Los Angeles office of Luce, Forward, Hamilton & Scripps LLP which combined with MLA on March 6, 2012.
MLA’s Los Angeles office employs more than 80 attorneys and strategic advisors with substantial experience in government contracts, real estate and litigation. The office also has significant experience in general corporate counseling (including taxation, SEC, bankruptcy and corporate restructuring), insurance defense, private client services, finance, environmental compliance, employment law, entertainment, estate planning and white collar crime. Attorneys in each of these practice areas handle virtually every type of contract, litigation or counseling problem. The Los Angeles office is the firm’s third largest office and is located in the heart of the city’s financial district.
Ms. Jorrie’s practice includes transactional and litigation work both domestically and internationally, primarily in business and entertainment matters. Her litigation practice is focused on complex business litigation with an emphasis on intellectual property, entertainment and unfair competition. In addition to acting as lead trial counsel in a number of complex commercial disputes, she has successfully handled many intellectual property litigation matters for a variety of clients including live entertainment promoters, motion picture and television producers, a major motion picture studio, a television satellite platform, and manufacturers of cosmetics and professional hair care products. Ms. Jorrie also has extensive experience as a deal lawyer, particularly in the entertainment field, where she has negotiated and prepared promotion agreements for the national and international tours of and/or Las Vegas residency performances of many of today's blockbuster music artists.
Ms. Jorrie succeeds William Sayers as Los Angeles Office Managing Partner. Mr. Sayers remains with the firm as a partner in its litigation practice, where he has had extensive experience as a trial lawyer.
