August 8, 2007 (Washington, D.C.) – Raymond B. Biagini and Daniel E. Johnson, partners at McKenna Long & Aldridge LLP’s Washington, D.C. office, have been named as finalists on the Washington Business Journal’s 2007 "Top Washington Lawyers" list. They were selected from a pool of nearly 500 outstanding lawyers in 15 categories, according to the WBJ.
Biagini and Johnson were nominated in the government contracts and employment litigation categories, respectively. Both will be honored at the awards reception that is slated for Thursday, September 11, 2007 at The Four Seasons Hotel in Washington, D.C., where the winners will be announced. The “Top Washington Lawyers” will be profiled in a special supplement in the September 14th edition of the Washington Business Journal.
Biagini leads the Product Defense Liability and Homeland Security practices at McKenna Long & Aldridge. He conceived of, and drafted, core provisions of the Safety Act, a landmark federal statute that is part of the Homeland Security Act of 2002. The Act emerged directly from his experience in successfully defending government contractors in military tort cases. Biagini is one of the top practitioners in the country for assisting such companies with obtaining Safety Act protection and defending contractors in high profile suits arising out of catastrophic military accidents.
Johnson is a member of McKenna Long & Aldridge’s Employment and Litigation groups and is chairman of the firm’s Trade Secrets practice group. He is recognized as a “go-to” employment litigator in the Washington metropolitan area, particularly for disputes involving trade secrets, non-competition agreements, and the defection of employees to a competitor. Johnson also frequently defends employees against claims of discrimination and wrongful discharge.
