Former U.S. Envoy to Canada has been Advising Jacobson; says he’s ‘Thrilled’
Ambassador Gordon Giffin shares some of the advice he has given the newly appointed Ambassador to Canada, David Jacobson, based on his experience in the position under President Clinton.
Giffin describes Jacobson’s enthusiasm for the position as well as how the job was a life-changing experience for him. Jacobson has sought out advice from Giffin about the job and his own efforts in enhancing the relationship between the U.S. and Canada as well as his efforts in shaping policy on both sides of the border.
One of the first items on the agenda will be to deal with the "Buy American" provision in the U.S. stimulus package as well as the two countries’ overall trade position.
