Eric J. Tanenblatt nominated by President G. W. Bush to Board of Directors of the Corporation for National and Community Service for a five year term

November 6, 2007 - (Georgia) - McKenna Long & Aldridge LLP (MLA) congratulated Eric J. Tanenblatt, Senior Managing Director of Government Affairs, on his presidential nomination to The Corporation for National and Community Service, an independent federal agency. Led by a Board of Directors and Chief Executive Officer confirmed by the Senate, its mission is to improve lives, strengthen communities, and foster civic engagement through service and volunteering. The position is expected to be a five-year term.
Tanenblatt is a cofounder of Hands on Georgia, a statewide program created to engage citizens in volunteer work. McKenna Long & Aldridge LLP also counsels the Points of Light Foundation, a non profit organization that merged with the national Hands on Network. They are the two largest volunteer organizations in the nation.
“Eric Tanenblatt demonstrates a special commitment to service. He has admirably served our Governor as Chief of Staff and our community as a civic leader,” said Jeffrey K. Haidet, Chairman of McKenna Long & Aldridge and also Board member of the Points of Light Foundation. “We value his leadership and believe his experience will be a tremendous asset to the Board.”
Tanenblatt was previously Chief of Staff to Georgia Governor Sonny Perdue and Senior Advisor to the late Senator Paul Coverdell. He served in the Administration of President George H.W. Bush at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services and at the Peace Corps.
Tanenblatt serves on the Board of Directors of Metro-Atlanta Chamber of Commerce, Georgia Chamber of Commerce, the Buckhead Coalition, and the Board of Visitors of Emory University.
