April 1, 2008 - (Washington, DC) - McKenna Long & Aldridge LLP (MLA) is pleased to announce that Luis A. Aguilar, a Partner in the firm’s Corporate Practice, has been nominated by President George W. Bush to be a Commissioner of the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). Mr. Aguilar is one of two Democrats the President has nominated to fill vacant seats on the five member Commission.

Mr. Aguilar is currently based in MLA’s Atlanta office and practices in the areas of general corporate and business law, international transactions, securities law and corporate finance. He focuses on corporate governance, public and private offerings (IPOs and secondary offerings), mergers and acquisitions, mutual funds, investment advisors, broker-dealers, and other aspects of federal and state securities laws and regulations.
