ENERGY POLICY STRATEGIST JOINS MCKENNA LONG & ALDRIDGE

April 21, 2008 - (Washington, DC) -  McKenna Long & Aldridge LLP (MLA) is pleased to announce the appointment of Ben Winburn as a Senior Advisor in the DC office. 

As a member of the Government Affairs team, Winburn will focus his practice on climate change, energy, and renewable resources.  Winburn has been focused on energy issues for a number of years including serving as a professional staff member of the House Subcommittee on Energy and Mineral Resources.

“Having someone with Ben’s experience join our practice is a real asset to the firm.” said Eric Tanenblatt who heads MLA’s National Government Affairs Group.  “His expertise working on energy policy issues within a legal framework will translate to business opportunities for our clients.”

While working for the Committee on Resources, Subcommittee on Energy and Mineral Resources, Winburn advised Members on key issues and significant energy legislation, including advising House conferees on energy and mining issues for the Energy Policy Acts of 2002, 2003 and 2005. During his tenure with the Committee, he worked extensively with alternative energy groups, including wind, geothermal, solar, hydropower, and biomass.

A native of the Washington, D.C. area, Winburn received his J.D. from Tulane University School of Law where he was a managing editor of their Environmental Law Journal.
