May 22, 2008 - (Atlanta, GA) - McKenna Long & Aldridge LLP (MLA) is pleased to announce that Charlene McGinty has been elected to serve as a Board Member for the American Health Lawyers Association (AHLA) for a 3-year term beginning July 2008. With 10,000 members, the AHLA is the nation's largest, nonpartisan, 501(c)(3) educational organization devoted to legal issues in the healthcare field.

McGinty concentrates her practice in health care law. She represents providers, health care facilities, and other related entities on a variety of matters in the areas of federal and state regulation (including Medicare, Medicaid, and private payor reimbursement issues), mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, health care facility operations, health service delivery, professional services contracts, structuring of business ventures, and tax exemption issues.
McGinty has been active in AHLA since 1999, serving in leadership roles as well as writing articles and speaking at seminars for American Health Lawyers Association on topics affecting facilities and practitioners such as Stark and self-referral laws, fraud and abuse, compliance issues and governance issues. She is a Past Chair of the Health Law Section of the State Bar of Georgia, and has written and spoken at seminars for the Health Law Section and the Georgia Academy of Healthcare Attorneys on various healthcare topics.
McGinty received her J.D. from University of Kentucky College of Law and her B.A. from University of Kentucky.
