Luis Aguilar Confirmed By Senate To Serve As Commissioner Of SEC

July 1, 2008 - (Washington, DC) - McKenna Long & Aldridge LLP (MLA) is pleased to announce that on June 27, 2008 the Senate confirmed Luis A. Aguilar, a partner in the firm’s Corporate practice, to fill one of the open commissioner seats at the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).  Mr. Aguilar is one of two Democrats the President has nominated to fill vacant seats on the five member Commission.

Aguilar is currently based in MLA’s Atlanta office and practices in the areas of general corporate and business law, international transactions, securities law and corporate finance.  He focuses on corporate governance, public and private offerings (IPOs and secondary offerings), mergers and acquisitions, mutual funds, investment advisors, broker-dealers, and other aspects of federal and state securities laws and regulations.
