McKenna Long & Aldridge Grows in Atlanta, Denver

Luis Aguilar Joins Atlanta Corporate Practice; Denver Office Doubles

( February 7, 2005 ) McKenna Long & Aldridge LLP announced that it is expanding its corporate practice with a new partner in Atlanta , and doubling the size of its Denver office.

Luis A. Aguilar has joined the corporate practice as a partner in Atlanta beginning today. Mr. Aguilar is focused on corporate governance, public and private offerings, mergers and acquisitions, and other aspects of federal and state securities laws and regulations.

The firm also announced that it will add eight attorneys in Denver to support its corporate, environmental, government affairs and litigation practices there. Those attorneys are joining the firm from Friedlob Sanderson Paulson & Tourtillott, LLC, and include Raymond Friedlob, Richard Kaufman, John Kellogg, Shayne Madsen, Terri Rithner, Paul Seby RaLea Sluga and John Tatlock.

"We're expanding quickly, particularly in our corporate practice, government affairs, and environmental law. Mr. Aguilar joins McKenna Long & Aldridge from Alston & Bird where he was a partner. Prior to joining Alston & Bird, he was general counsel, executive vice president and corporate secretary of INVESCO and a member of INVESCO's board of directors and management committee where he had responsibility for all legal and compliance matters regarding INVESCO Institutional. He also served as INVESCO's managing director for Latin America and was a partner at Kilpatrick Stockton LLP and Powell Goldstein, Frazer & Murphy LLP. Mr. Aguilar also served as staff attorney at the Securities and Exchange Commission.

Mr. Aguilar is named as one of Georgia 's Super Lawyers 2004, as published in Atlanta magazine and Georgia Super Lawyers Magazine®, March 2004. He is also listed in the 2005-2006 edition of The Best Lawyers in America and was named the Atlanta Hispanic Businessman of the Year in 1994 by the Georgia Hispanic Chamber of Commerce.

Among the many civic and business organizations in which he is active, he will be chair of the Latin American Association in Atlanta in April, is a member of the Board of Governors for the Hispanic National Bar Association and is a director of the Georgia Association of Latino Elected Officials (GALEO). He is a graduate of the University of Georgia School of Law and holds a master of laws degree in taxation from Emory University .
