McKenna Long & Aldridge Partners With Vice President of Peru to Host Seminar

August 4, 2005

With more than 11,000 Peruvians residing in Georgia, last year's announcement of the new Peruvian consulate opening was an important step in expanding trade and business relations between Georgia and Peru. On August 1, 2005, the firm's Atlanta office hosted the Vice President of Peru, His Excellency David Waisman, who served as the keynote speaker during a seminar exploring new business opportunities in Peru. Atlanta partner Luis Aguilar spearheaded this event in conjunction with Hemisphere, Inc., a nonprofit enterprise comprised of public and private sector representatives.

Approximately 100 attendees discussed conducting business in Peru, investing in Peru and Georgia's Logistic Competitiveness for International Business. In addition to His Excellency, David Waisman, other notable seminar participants providing insight to attendees included: The Deputy Chief of Mission of Embassy of Peru, Jorge Felix Rubio; Head of Peru's Commission for Promoting Exports, Miguel Galvez; Chief of Staff of the Georgia Department of Economic Development, George Gatlin; and Vice President of Government Relations of Hemisphere, Inc., Alex Mejia; S.E. Regional Manager for Seaboard Marine, Mercy Lopez; and the President of Buhler Quality Yarn Corporation, Werner Bieri.
