San Diego Biodefense Conference Connects Executives with Government Opportunities

On November 15, the firm hosted the second annual biodefense summit at the Estancia la Jolla Hotel & Spa in La Jolla, California.  Nearly 50 representatives from pharmaceutical, biotech, security, and financial companies attended the one-day seminar that focused on such topics as Federal Funding Opportunities, Biodefense Financing, BioShield I: Successes and Shortcomings, and BioShield II: Opening Up New Opportunities.

Co-hosted by BIOCOM, a premiere life science industry association representing more than 450 member companies in San Diego and Southern California, the seminar featured Steven Bice, Director, CDC Strategic National Stockpile, as the keynote speaker. Mr. Bice was joined by special guests Matthew Bettenhausen, Executive Director, Governor's Office of Homeland Security, State of California and Colonel Joseph Palma, Acting Deputy Assistant to the Secretary of Defense for Chemical and Biological Defense. Frank Rapoport and John Clerici served as featured speakers who presented with other panel members.
