Douglas Chalmers, Jr. Elected Vice-Chairman of the Georgia Department of Driver Services
ATLANTA - (September 21, 2006) Douglas Chalmers, Jr., Of Counsel to McKenna Long and Aldridge LLP, has been elected to the position of Vice-Chairman of the Board of Directors for the Georgia Department of Driver Services as of September 14, 2006.
Chalmers was initially appointed to the Board of Directors of the Georgia Department of Driver Services by Governor Sonny Perdue in October 2005. He is also on the Board of Advisors of the Georgia Public Policy Foundation, the Executive Board of the Atlanta Lawyers Chapter of the Federalist Society and is the Vice Chairman of the Election Law Education Committee of the Republican National Lawyers Association.
Chalmers maintains an active legal practice involving representation of insurers and reinsurers in high profile and complex litigation matters. He also represents public officials and candidates, political action committees and businesses in connection with federal and state government ethics, election and campaign finance law. He represents clients before the State Ethics Commission and Federal Election Commission and is an author on Georgia’s Ethics in Government Act.
