New York
The New York City office complements the rest of the firm and leverages the human capital and know-how of the firm’s approximately 575 lawyers and professionals by its focus on key elements of the firm’s practice: governmental relations, public finance, corporate law, real estate and dispute resolution involving all aspects of business litigation and bankruptcy.
The Government Affairs group provides strategic advice to clients in the financial services, transportation, infrastructure, energy, construction, automotive, telecommunications, real estate, and education industries before local and state governments in the tri-state area: New York, New Jersey and Connecticut. Our professionals have served in various administrations at the state and local level, including for example, holding positions with the Governor of the State of New York, the Governor of the State of Connecticut, and in the City of New York and the Counties of Westchester and Nassau. We are also able to provide political law advice to candidates, political action committees and corporations.
The Public Finance group has extensive experience in the areas of distressed state, local and programmatic restructuring, housing finance, public finance, public-private partnerships, securitization, special fund financings, transportation and validation. Attorneys in the group have participated in hundreds of public debt issuances in the Northeast, including in New York, New Jersey and Connecticut.
The Corporate practice offers skilled guidance on commercial transactions, including mergers and acquisitions, private equity investments and financings for U.S. and non-U.S. clients. We also counsel family offices and private foundations on their legal and business needs.
The Litigation and Bankruptcy practice focuses on controversies in the intersection of law, government and business. We represent clients in the financial services, energy, construction, transportation, distressed investing and retail industries, as well as municipal debtors. Due to the firm’s involvement with the Canadian business and governmental community, we represent the Government of Canada as well as numerous Canadian businesses in lawsuits and bankruptcy proceedings in New York. Our lawyers appear regularly in a variety of federal and state courts in the New York tri-state area.
The Real Estate practice revolves around both significant commercial deals and the wide range of issues, both contested and uncontested, affecting commercial real estate in New York and related financial disputes.
