The San Francisco office of McKenna Long & Aldridge (MLA) is in the heart of the financial district and was founded in 1968 by Paul Fitting. The office's regional practice spans the entire San Francisco Bay Area, along with many of the major cities and counties in Central and Northern California, including Bakersfield, Fresno, Sacramento, and Auburn. We practice in all state and federal courts in California, including all four federal district courts and the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals. We also practice before many of the state and federal administrative tribunals and agencies in the area, and in many other courts and tribunals in the U.S.

The lawyers in our San Francisco office are experienced in commercial and real estate lending, residential subdivision documentation and processing, subdivision and land sharing arrangements, commercial leasing, land use entitlements and obtaining and defending permits, and real estate transactions, bankruptcy, insolvency and creditors' rights, business litigation, franchise litigation, unfair trade practices and 17200 litigation, insurance coverage, real estate litigation, product liability and toxic torts, environmental, energy & product regulation, and intellectual property.

Representative clients served by our lawyers include commercial and residential developers, construction companies, financial institutions, financial services firms, franchisors and technology companies.

Our lawyers are active in pro bono work in the San Francisco Bay Area. MLA participates in the Law Firm Pro Bono Challenge, and represents clients in a variety of pro bono matters, including landlord tenant, family law, estate planning, and non-profit counseling, particularly in the areas of corporate and labor and employment law. Attorneys in the San Francisco office also handle many different types of cases on a pro bono basis, which include prisoners' rights, death penalty appeals, political amnesty, and migrant farm workers' rights.

Our attorneys are also active in various committees of the State Bar of California, the American Bar Association, and the Bar Association of San Francisco.
