PROFILE

Amy G. Solomon is a Managing Director in McKenna Long & Aldridge’s Government Affairs practice where she uses her 30 years of experience working in and with Government agencies, as well as with the Legislature and Executive offices, to advise clients on how to effectively navigate public policy and regulatory issues, at all levels of government.

Before joining McKenna Long & Aldridge, Amy served as the Assistant Director of the Intergovernmental Relations Bureau for former New York State Attorney General Eliot Spitzer. In this position, which she held since February 1999, Amy acted as the liaison with government officials, government affairs professionals, and communities throughout upstate New York. She advised the attorney general on many issues, particularly those affecting the business and agriculture communities, educators and law enforcement organizations.

Amy Solomon is a long-respected figure in New York Democratic politics. Prior to her role in the attorney general’s office, she was an assistant to the majority leader in the New York State Assembly and legislative director for a New York state senator from 1975 to 1995.

In January 1995, Amy was appointed chief of staff to the Senate Democratic Conference. As chief administrator of the conference, she was integral in the development and implementation of legislative programs, and she provided strategic counsel to the conference members, including the Deputy Minority Leader and current Governor David Patterson, on matters pertaining to policy and communication strategies.

In 2003, Amy was an integral part of the transition team for Mayor Brian Stratton in the City of Schenectady. Mayor Stratton took office in January 1, 2004.
