Cindy Gillespie is a Managing Director in McKenna Long & Aldridge’s Government Affairs practice. Cindy manages issues related to state, national and federal government affairs, and focuses on healthcare and legislative matters.
Before joining the firm, Cindy served as special counselor to former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney. As a key advisor to the Governor, Cindy played a major role in the development of Massachusetts health insurance reform. She also served as senior advisor to the governor on policy and legislative matters, including homeland security policy.
Cindy’s recent experience also includes serving as vice president of federal relations for the Salt Lake City Organizing Committee for the Winter Games of 2002. As senior strategist and lead lobbyist for the organizing committee, she designed and implemented a federal relations program that resulted in over $900 million in direct federal support for the Games and modification of federal laws and regulations to meet International Olympic requirements. She also served as Director of Federal Relations for the Atlanta Committee for the Olympic Games from 1993-1996, developing an aggressive federal relations program that produced $250 million in direct federal support.
Cindy began her career working closely with Congressman Richard Ray, serving as Press Secretary and Legislative Assistant for his congressional office.
