Carla Farinhas is an associate in the Brussels office of McKenna Long & Aldridge LLP. Her practice focuses on EC competition law and EU regulatory law, including REACH and REACH consortia management and litigation before the European Courts in Luxembourg.
Carla advises clients on a broad range of competition issues, including merger control, cartels, vertical and horizontal agreements and abuses of dominant positions. She has represented clients from various industry sectors, including the incumbent telecoms operator in Portugal in major abuse of dominance investigations and merger control procedures and leading pharmaceutical companies in a number of competition matters.
Carla also advises on a wide range of regulatory matters, including environmental and product safety regulatory issues.
Prior to joining the firm, Carla was an associate in the competition department of a leading Portuguese law firm, where she practiced EC and Portuguese competition law and State aid law.
Carla graduated from the University of Lisbon and obtained a Master in European Studies from the College of Europe in Bruges in 2005. She also completed a traineeship at the European Court of Justice in Luxembourg where she clerked for the British judge, Judge K. Schiemann.
Carla is a member of the Portuguese Bar.
