PROFILE

Russell P. Love is a partner in the Atlanta, Georgia office of McKenna Long & Aldridge LLP.  As head of his firm’s tax, estate and probate group, Russell works closely with his firm’s local, national, and international estate planning clients to help them identify their personal objectives to create a strategy for asset distribution and to minimize the tax cost of meeting their families’ objectives.  He then provides the technical assistance to preserve the assets and execute the plans according to the clients’ wishes.  His work is generally based upon long-term, personal relationships with a client and may cross over into many areas of a client’s public and private life.  In addition, Russell places special emphasis on the “human” side of the process, paying particular attention to the importance of the family and the individual personalities involved in all aspects of each matter.

Russell is a member of the State Bar of Georgia, Alabama State Bar and Ohio State Bar (inactive).  Russell is currently the Chair of the Estate and Probate Section of the Atlanta Bar Association, and he is active in the Atlanta Estate Planning Council and the Fiduciary Law Section of the State Bar of Georgia. Additionally, Russell is a frequent lecturer in various areas of tax, business and estate planning.

Russell earned a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Accounting from the University of Texas at Austin. He graduated from the University of Alabama School of Law, having served as a founding member and articles editor of the American Journal of Tax Policy.  Russell also attended the University of Florida School of Law, where he received his LL.M. - Masters of Law in Taxation.
