Charlie Weiss has a broad-based commercial real estate finance practice, focusing on structured mezzanine and mortgage lending and preferred and pari passu equity investment transactions, complex workout and loan restructuring matters, and representation of loan servicers in commercial mortgage backed securities (CMBS) transactions.

Charlie has extensive experience in both lending and restructuring matters across a broad range of commercial real estate asset classes, including hotel, office, multifamily, shopping center, condominium and golf course/single-family residential developments.  Mr. Weiss’ lending and workouts practice has involved numerous construction and condominium development/ conversion transactions, and his servicing practice encompasses both defaulted loan restructuring and enforcement matters, as well as performing loan consent, assumption and defeasance transactions.  A particular focus of Charlie’s practice has been franchise loan workouts, in which he has served as lead transactional lender’s counsel in connection with the restructuring of several hundred million dollars of indebtedness secured by multi-store chains of convenience and gas stations, quick lube facilities and fast food restaurants.  Charlie has also handled numerous real estate and mezzanine loan (UCC) foreclosure actions, and he has substantial expertise in negotiating and resolving complex, multi-party co-lender and intercreditor issues.
