George Ballas is an associate in the firm's Intellectual Property Group. George has experience in patent infringement litigation before federal courts relating to computer networking and the International Trade Commission relating to manufacturing control. He has drafted pleadings and memoranda and has taken and defended depositions. George also has extensive experience in preparing discovery requests and responses and in reviewing and producing requested documents. In addition, he has prosecuted patent applications in a number of areas including semiconductors, fiber optics, radiography, wireless communications, and Internet networking.
Before attending law school, George worked at SEI Investments developing software for the investment management and financial services industry. George's responsibilities included supporting customers and managing third-party developers and outside consultants during the development of a client-server based investment management and portfolio accounting system.
George graduated from Johns Hopkins University with Honors in 1995, where he earned a B.S. in Electrical and Computer Engineering, with a second major in Economics. He was also president of the Johns Hopkins chapter of Eta Kappa Nu, the electrical engineering honor society. In 2001, he graduated from the George Mason University School of Law with a concentration in Intellectual Property. While at George Mason, he was the online editor of the law school's newspaper.
