MILITARY BASES AND COMMUNITIES: DESCRIPTION

Transforming Bases, Protecting Communities

Military base communities and the private sector need to turn to experienced and knowledgeable advisors and attorneys to guide them in addressing redevelopment or expansion issues.

McKenna Long & Aldridge LLP and Hurt Norton & Associates have teamed together to provide professional assistance to communities and their local redevelopment authorities that are dealing with closure, realignment or expansion. We further provide services to the private sector addressing the real estate assets and human capital represented by these bases, including real estate developers, government contractors, environmental engineers and financial institutions. In particular, we have pioneered the Transitional Benefit Corporation model that may allow civilian jobs to be retained even in a closure situation.

Our Military Bases and Communities team is highlighted by a number of professionals with extensive experience handling military base issues, including:

  • Robert Tritt – co-chair of McKenna Long & Aldridge's Military Bases and Communities practice who is actively engaged representing communities and private sector in the round of 2005 closings and in the development of public-private partnerships, including enhanced use leasing transactions
