Experience
Tim Scott focuses his practice on real estate and finance law, combining more than 20 years experience in the areas of corporate, commercial and real estate matters. He has represented hundreds of public and private companies, from large multi-national corporations to emerging entrepreneurial organizations in transactional matters.
Mr. Scott has represented clients both in the U.S. and abroad, including some of the foremost financial institutions such as Bank of America and General Electric Capital. He has represented commercial lessors in ongoing leasing programs; buyers and sellers in purchase and sale transactions; lenders and borrowers in commercial and real estate secured financing transactions and in renegotiation and work-out transactions; and property owners in connection with environmental investigations and remediation work.
Mr. Scott is currently actively involved in the representation of a major retailer in site acquisition, leasing and other matters concerning the introduction of a new concept grocery store, with more than 150 sites already open and operating.
Mr. Scott is also experienced in real estate and secured lending transactions, including representation of a major construction company in the tax-deferred exchange (Section 1031) of its corporate headquarters facility and the associated relocation, and serving as principal counsel to an international bank in its lending relationships with importer clients and in related real estate secured transactions.
Prior to joining McKenna Long & Aldridge LLP, Mr. Scott worked at Korn/Ferry International as Associate General Counsel and Corporate Secretary.
