Experience
J. David Larsen's practice focuses on commercial lending, real estate finance, real property acquisition and disposition, commercial leasing, workouts, debtor-in-possession finance, enterprise acquisition and disposition, corporate entity formation and governance, and other transactional matters.
During law school, Mr. Larsen was awarded the American Jurisprudence Award in Debtors’ Rights and Creditors’ Remedies and served as the Senior Articles Editor of the Hastings International and Comparative Law Review. He completed an externship with Justice Joyce L. Kennard of the California Supreme Court, and an internship with the U.S. Senate Commerce Committee. He received his B.A. from Northwestern University with distinction and honors, majoring in English and with a significant concentration in Asian Studies and the Japanese language. He is a member of Phi Beta Kappa and Phi Eta Sigma national honor societies.
Notable Engagements
Served as court-appointed receiver’s counsel in connection with the receiver’s management, marketing and disposition duties for a multi-building office park located in Irvine, California securing a $106 million defaulted CMBS mortgage loan.
Handled remedy enforcement and loan restructuring for national loan servicer of a $105 million defaulted CMBS mortgage loan secured by a multi-building office and retail park located in Huntington Beach, California.
Represented major national bank as lead attorney in a $50.2 million syndicated construction loan to finance the acquisition and development of a retail and office park in Southern California.
Handled the assumption of more than 50 securitized mortgage loans as lead attorney for a major loan servicing company, including a $135 million loan secured by a luxury resort & spa involving a reverse 1031 exchange.
Represented a major insurance company in the first mortgage refinancing of a portfolio of properties in Southern California consisting of offices, research and development properties and a shopping center, aggregating $200 million.
