Experience

Stanley Dees is Senior Counsel in McKenna Long & Aldridge's Washington, DC office.  He joined the firm in 1963 and has served twice as Chair of the Government Contracts Department. His practice encompasses counseling, litigation, mediation and arbitration in the field of government contracts and related areas.

Mr. Dees has counseled, litigated, and lectured in all areas of government contract law from bid protests, claims and cost recovery to terminations, false claims and debarment.

For more than forty-five years, Mr. Dees has engaged in substantial litigation before the Government Accountability Office, the boards of contract appeals, federal district courts, the U.S. Court of Federal Claims, and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit. He also has represented contractors and subcontractors in disputes between contractors, both in litigation and under alternative dispute resolution procedures.  He represents contractors in classified matters. He serves on the panel of mediators of the Federal Circuit Court of Appeals and has mediated for the ICC.

Mr. Dees is an honorary faculty member of the U.S. Army JAG School and has been a lecturer at the University of Virginia Law School (1992-99).  He has authored more than two dozen articles in the field of government contracts.
