Donald R. Sweitzer*
Donald R. Sweitzer is a Senior Strategic Advisor and Independent Consultant in the Public Policy and Regulatory Affairs practice at McKenna Long & Aldridge LLP (MLA). Mr. Sweitzer brings an extensive background in international, federal and state government affairs issues. He counsels clients concerning a broad array of public policy issues affecting their business interests.
Prior to joining MLA, Mr. Sweitzer was the head of global business development and public affairs for GTECH, a gaming technology and services company. He continues to serve as Chairman of GTECH. With a decade of experience at GTECH and more than 20 years of government affairs and consulting service, Mr. Sweitzer successfully guides clients in their pursuit of global business opportunities and strategic partnerships.
Mr. Sweitzer was the political director of the Democratic National Committee during the first term of former President Bill Clinton. Prior to that, he served as the finance director of the Democratic National Committee and special assistant to Senator Howard Metzenbaum of Ohio.
Mr. Sweitzer has advised numerous national, statewide, and congressional candidates throughout his career in government affairs and has worked at every level of government.
